Holistic Care
I’m Dr. Itzel Harriott, a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) with a Doctorate degree in Pharmacology (PharmD). I am a faith based practitioner. I’ve worked in the medical field for over 30 years specializing in pharmacology. I pivoted my career to spend more time clinically counseling those with mental health issues. I’m an excellent fit for clients with comorbidities that require a comprehensive approach combining clinical mental health counseling and a deeper knowledge and understanding of medication purpose and management. In addition to covering mental health issues, I provide psychoeducation to help you understand your condition and medications and how they work.
I have Panamanian roots, father and mother, so I speak both English and Spanish. I served as an Officer in the United States Navy, which has made me especially committed to helping women, women veterans, and military families. As a mother of three boys, a wife, and having worked in professional settings over the past 30 years, I’m familiar with and fully understand the challenges women face at home, work, and in society.
I believe that healing involves the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. I combine clinical mental health counseling and psychoeducation regarding medications, and in particular those medications associated with mental health issues, such as SSRIs, Atypical Antipsychotics, and Antidepressants. I can prepare comprehensive referrals to your medication prescriber. This is important because and for example medications for MDD(Major Depressive Disorder), Bi-Polar I & II, Schizo -Affective disorders can be very different even though they have overlapping symptomatology.
I have as part of my tool kit a Master’s degree in Pastoral Care Counseling allowing me to use biblical wisdom when requested in the counseling process. When requested by the client. Faith-based support can aid in finding meaning, purpose, and direction in life.
I believe in the power of combining medical knowledge with compassionate care. My practice is rooted in the belief that everyone is beautifully and wonderfully made by God (Psalm 139:14) and deserves respect and dignity (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). I strive to be a beacon of hope and comfort, guided by scriptures like Isaiah 61:1, which talks about healing the brokenhearted, and Philippians 4:7, which speaks of God's peace.
If you or a loved one is struggling with health issues, relationship challenges, trauma, PTSD, or needs help with medication management, I am here to provide empathetic, compassionate and comprehensive care.
Let’s work together to find hope and healing.
